ESTIMATOR - ORLANDO, FL

Position Overview:
The Estimator position is primarily responsible for analyzing drawings and technical documents, working with the clients to understand their needs, communicating directly with design teams to help guide the design, while engaging the subcontractor market to produce bid packages for the various scopes of work on a construction project. The ideal candidate is internally motivated, organized, with meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with subcontractors and owners to come up with the best possible estimate for a project.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of the Construction Business and what it takes to successfully Win Projects while providing the highest level of Client Satisfaction.
  • Ability to comprehend and understand Construction Plans and Specifications.
  • Communicate with potential clients and subcontractors regarding the different aspects of Construction Projects.  This includes verbal and non-verbal communication.
  • Generate and update Bid Package templates as they directly relate to the specific project requirements.
  • Generate quantity take offs and incorporate them into Project Estimates.
  • Knowledge of the Central Florida subcontractor market.  Develop subcontractor relationships while expanding the subcontractor database.
  • Develop and maintain historical cost data.
  • Be part of a Team that generates cost estimates for the different levels of project development from Conceptual Budgets to Construction Document Hard Bids.
  • Help manage/update the estimating programs and backup all estimating data.
  • Manage the overall subcontractor bid process.
  • Develop subcontractor bid scopes from conceptual thru final documents.
  • Generate subcontractor bid invitations.
  • Generate, monitor, and distribute Pre-Construction RFI’s from subcontractors to the Design Team and back to subcontractors.
  • Organize and conduct pre-bid meetings as needed.
  • Develop preliminary project schedules for use during the Preconstruction process.
  • Perform project and bid package constructability reviews.
  • Visit job sites and formulate potential risk analysis.
  • Develop/Maintain relationships with Owners and Design Professionals.
  • Initiate and review exhibits to owner and subcontractor agreements.
  • Review, qualify, and level subcontractor bids.
  • Generate project proposal letters to owners.
  • Organize and conduct “Project Turnover Meetings” when the successful project moves to operations.
  • Assist with the prequalification of subcontractors.
  • Attend Business Development and Marketing functions as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with other Orlando Team members to provide the most cost-effective Project Proposals possible.
  • Be on time for all work-related activities.

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Three to five years of preconstruction experience.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze cost data.
  • Report to Preconstruction Manager
  • Proficient in construction/estimating related software
