Location: Salford (M50 1EW) – with weekly travel to Carlisle
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + package

The Opportunity

We are working in partnership with a well-established and growing specialist contractor within the painting and decorating sector to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator.

Our client operates nationally, delivering high-quality finishes across commercial and public sector projects. With a strong order book and continued growth, they are now looking for a commercially astute Senior Estimator to play a key role in securing future projects and supporting operational success.

This is a high-impact role where you will be a trusted commercial lead within the business.

The Role

Based out of the Salford office, you will take ownership of the tendering function while attending weekly meetings in Carlisle, including contract variation meetings and commercial reviews.

This role would particularly suit someone from a painting/decorating background, although this is not essential. What is essential is strong experience working under NEC contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and submission of competitive tenders

  • Interpret drawings, specifications and NEC contract documentation

  • Develop detailed and accurate cost plans

  • Identify and manage commercial risk within NEC frameworks

  • Attend and contribute to variation and progress meetings

  • Liaise with supply chain partners to secure competitive pricing

  • Ensure smooth commercial handover to delivery teams

  • Support and mentor junior estimators

About You

  • Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within construction

  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (essential)

  • Commercially sharp with strong analytical skills

  • Confident communicator, comfortable in client-facing meetings

  • Willing and able to travel to Carlisle weekly

  • Decorating or specialist finishes background advantageous but not required
